Each Week’s content is arranged around a theme. While many of the themes interweave, each week is meant to build a structure of ideas, adding to the previous topics and constructing an overall understanding of new media.  One of the goals of this class is the collaboration of researchers.  Each of you is a researcher, involved in discovering ideas and making connections within new media and even more importantly, outside.

This exploration will take several paths, it will be messy, not perfect. We will be purposely walking a thin line between class organization, personal discovery, and collaboration.  How will this look?  As your instructor, I will be at times lecturing, but most of the time it will be us as a small group talking about our insights into the scholarly readings, cultural artifacts such as films and video games, insights into social media, and our personal experiences.

This will take the form of:

  • Weekly scholarly readings
  • In class lectures and media explorations
  • A Weekly blog post
  • A shared time of discussion involving Research Reporting
