Arthur Davis was born on June 14, 1905, and died on May 9, 2000. Davis did not go to college and started young at Max Fleischer Studio. Later on, he was part of the Golden age of Warner Brothers and joined them for awhile. He then later Charles Mintz’s studio which he help animate Krazy Kat.Davis was a full fledge animator in 1929. He was also known as the first in-betweener animator, where he created images that smoothly transitioned from one to the next. While Arthur Davis worked for the Waner Bros. he directed for Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies where he made many Daffy Duck and Porky Pig cartoons. The one Bugs Bunny cartoon he directed was “Bowery Bugs” in 1949. But Davis mostly cartoon Daffy Duck and Porky Pig episodes. As the years went by, Arthur Davis went back and forth between Warner Bors. and other small studios, and settled at Warner Bros.

The short that I will be showing is called Quackodile Tears(1962). He directed it, and the film was a freelancing basis, he had some animators named, Friz Freleng and Michael Barrier.

I will compare Arthur Davis style of animation to Chuck Jones style of animation. The difference between Davis and Jones is the Jones is more modern animation while Davis is old fashioned. Both are really smooth and has a consistency in their animations. Davis animations are funny, but they are like an old funny joke kind of way, while Jones jokes in his animation are more understanible and you can tell that the character is joking, and the jokes seem like they are coming from a teenager. Some common things about Davis and Jones animations is their way of drawing their characters. Even though both of them have the same character in some of there shorts, they try to keep the characters to look the same even though sometimes those shorts are animated by different people.
